In a recent NPR feature, ABCD Mentor Kara Kenan and others, including our friends Carissa Hodgson from Bright Spot Network and Dr. Arif Kamal from American Cancer Society, share advice on how to be truly supportive if a friend has been diagnosed with cancer. As an example: “Showing up in really specific, practical ways and knowing what you’re willing to do and just offering that, you’re way more likely to get someone to take you up on that than if you just say, ‘Let me know how I can help,'” Kenan says.
