DIVERSE VOICES AVAILABLE FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH STORIES

Patients and survivors, people living with metastatic breast cancer, previvors, caregivers, and experts are available for interviews leading up to and throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026.

Milwaukee, WI (September 21, 2026) – ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, a nonprofit providing free, personalized emotional support to anyone impacted by breast cancer, has a variety of individuals available for media interviews during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and year-round. Through its diverse community of more than 350 trained volunteer Mentors across the United States and beyond, ABCD is a trusted source to connect journalists with people who bring powerful stories, firsthand insights, and expert perspectives on breast cancer.

ABCD provides its one-to-one support by matching people with a trained volunteer Mentor who has a similar lived experience, taking into consideration diagnosis, treatment, age, and lifestyle. Mentors include survivors, people living with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, people at high risk of developing the disease, and caregivers, family members, and friends.

This wide range of experiences can help journalists explore timely breast cancer topics through the voices of real people who are comfortable sharing their stories publicly. ABCD can connect journalists with potential interviewees including:

  • Patients currently undergoing treatment
  • Survivors of various types of breast cancer, including DCIS, triple-negative, triple-positive, invasive lobular carcinoma, invasive ductal carcinoma, and others
  • People living with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer
  • Individuals diagnosed at a young age
  • Individuals diagnosed while pregnant or parenting young children through cancer
  • Men who have experienced breast cancer
  • Previvors with a genetic predisposition to breast cancer
  • People navigating survivorship and life after treatment
  • Caregivers and partners who have supported a loved one through breast cancer
  • Individuals who can speak to the emotional and physical effects of breast cancer and its treatment, including infertility, early menopause, hair loss, fatigue, body image, intimacy, and identity
  • Experts in oncology, research, cancer rehabilitation, and the benefits of emotional support

For stories that need a specific perspective or background, ABCD can also help identify potential interviewees based on location, age, diagnosis, and other demographics.
