About This Webinar

LGBTQIA+ people impacted by breast/chest cancer often navigate care and support spaces that were not built with their identities, bodies, families, or lived experiences in mind. This webinar featuring ABCD Mentor Ash Davidson, a breast/chest cancer survivor and Project Manager at the National LGBTQIA+ Cancer Network, will share practical strategies for creating more affirming support environments, followed by a moderated conversation with LGBTQIA+ breast/chest cancer mentors and mentees about their experiences in oncology and the role mentorship can play in helping people feel seen, supported, and less alone.

Objectives (3 Takeaways):

  1. Recognize how LGBTQIA+ identity and breast/chest cancer support intersect, including barriers related to bias, erasure, family assumptions, and gendered language.
  2. Apply practical communication and support strategies that help LGBTQIA+ patients, survivors, caregivers, mentors, and mentees feel respected and safe.
  3. Identify ways mentorship programs and breast/chest cancer organizations can strengthen LGBTQIA+ inclusion, including affirming matching conversations, inclusive intake language, chosen family recognition, and LGBTQIA+ affirming referrals.

About Our LEAP Speaker

Ash Davidson (he/they) is a breast/chest cancer survivor, ABCD Mentor, and Project Manager at the National LGBTQIA+ Cancer Network. After being diagnosed with breast/chest cancer when a tumor was unexpectedly found during his gender-affirming top surgery, Ash began speaking publicly about what it means to navigate cancer care as a trans person. He is the creator of Transcer, a platform for trans cancer advocacy and storytelling, and was selected as a 2025 ASCO Voices Speaker. His story and advocacy have also been featured in interviews, podcasts, and publications, including USA Today, Susan G. Komen, and Breastcancer.org. Ash’s work focuses on making cancer care and support spaces more honest, affirming, and human for LGBTQIA+ people.
