2022 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Note from Ellen Friebert Schupper, ABCD Executive Director - After Breast Cancer Diagnosis

2022 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Note from Ellen Friebert Schupper, ABCD Executive Director

January 1, 2021

Each year, as the calendar flips to October, we start to see pumpkins on doorsteps, leaves changing colors, and gift giving ideas for the upcoming holiday season. We also start seeing pink ribbons popping up in the grocery store, at community events, and in our social feeds.

While the return of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to drive education and awareness around breast cancer detection and treatment, it’s also a stark reminder that for so many of us and the people we love, breast cancer isn’t seasonal. It’s 365/24/7.

We know that this “season of pink” can bring up many feelings for breast cancer patients, survivors, thrivers, and their families. And we want you to know that we understand. Just as no two individual breast cancer experiences are the same, we know that no two moments in time are identical. Everyone will navigate this October in their own unique way.

At ABCD, our focus is on providing a customized approach to helping anyone impacted by breast cancer, address the myriad of emotions that accompany a diagnosis, treatment or survivorship. We do this by being available whenever that moment of need may arise.

So this October, as various feelings come up, we hope you will take a moment to focus on your here and now. Ask yourself how you are feeling todayReach out to us or a friend if you need support. And, remember, not everyone’s experiences and needs this October will be the same, just as they will be different when the calendar changes again, too.

Thank you for believing in our mission and supporting ABCD, this month and always.

If you or someone you know needs support, simply fill out this form or give us a call, M-F, 9am-5pm CST, at 800-977-4121. We’re here anytime you need us – at diagnosis, through treatment and on into survivorship.
